FARMALL 400

Yes they were all red like an SMTA, or SA, or SH. Etc.
Many were reepainted by farmers, and dealers to move them, or "modernize" them, but other than special paint from special orders they were all red all places. JimN

400's and 300's and mayby 350's were all red from factory. 450's, 460's. 560's and after were red and white. Armand

Yes, but some original photos show the axles painted black with the rims being silver. Also the dash panel was a gray color. The starters were red although many toy models show them being black.

I restored my great grand fathers 1955 I had the same question. after research and a lot of questions. I determined that from the factory all 300,400 were all red. the 350 450 were red with a white grill and a white pannel on the side where the farmall letters were. now explaned to me is that dealers had left overs when the 350 450 came out so to sell them they were permitted to make them look like the new ones. Mine is this way and was purchased new this way. so I restored it this way you can decide for your self my opinion is that mine should be this way.

For an extra fee, IHC would paint the tractor any color the customer wanted, but the standard was solid red on the 400.
