Yes there were a few 856 LPG tractors built. I don't know how many, but not many. The option was dropped during the 856 production run and the 765 LPG option was dropped at the end of the 756/856 production run.

Mr. Harold,

This ad is in a Mississippi newspaper.

I recall being told that D&PL requested IH to send them only LP tractors if they wanted their order. Any truth to that?

IBleedIHRed, There are no exact #s That I am aware of. If I would speculate a guess it would be waayyy less than 50, 856LPs made,,,,,Probably more accurately is 25 or so. I have only heard of 1, it showed up on an ad I saw somewhere 3 or 4 yrs ago.
Now the 756 LP is somewhat more plentyful and a whole lot easier to find. Hope this helps.

Hayne,

Delta Pine did use mostly LPG tractors and equipment at that time and changed to Diesel probably about then. I think the 856 LPG's were already in the catalogue before D&PL bought theirs. Dean and Company also had several LPG 856's. That was about the time when diesel was finally becoming the main fuel in the Delta.

Mr. Harold,

I called my father about this a few hours ago, although he was out of the loop dealing with D&PL he mentioned going down there a few times when they ran 806 & 706 LP, he said that model was prone to cracked heads.

Do you ever see any B-450's anymore?

I have been in north Georgia for about twenty years so I don't see any Farmall B-450's. I recently did see a for sale add for one somewhere recently for what I thought was a very high price.
