710 IH auto reset plow

Does anyone one have any tips for stopping auto matic reset plow from tripping all the time. I have shortened the springs and that didn't help. Have new lays and all colters on plow. Plowing wheat ground and the bottoms just trip with out hittng any rocks. It is a 5/18 on land plow. My furrow plows never did this. Help!

It couldn't be just that dry could it? Our Deere plow will do that some times if it is real dry. I have had to replace some of the springs with new ones where they were stretched. Might have gotten some grease in the trip mechanism so it trips easier.

Make sure there isn't any dirt or foreign material in the tripping mechanism. I think there is an adjustment bolt that can be set to trip at more or less pressure on the moldboard/ share. Been a while since I ran one of those. I'll try to find the book & see what it says. I believe ours had a piece of stick in the tripping mechanism that wouldn't let it come all the way back to "home" position one time.

Had the same problem, IH spring resets use only spring pressure to hold bottom from tripping. Also used to break a lot of moldboards because of resetting on top of the rock that tripped it. Traded for a Melroe 903 6-18"s auto reset trailer plow. A LOT more clearance = less pluging and they have a overcenter linkage so they don't backout of the ground in tough plowing.
Problem solved could'nt be happier.

On top of the triping mechanism in front of the vertical springs there is a 5/16" cap screw through a two sided plate. This plate can either be turned over or removed entirely to set the the tension on the trip.
