The serial number plate is unreadable. Engine model is C263, serial number 36225, casting stamp is 9-27-H. Question is what year was this tractor manufactured?
 
Paul, I believe looking at the serial numbers in left hand side of this page it should be a 1961, i have a 1963 gas, narrow front end, serial #65869 S-Y-CC.
 
Kevin, Thanks for responding and I went out and looked again and this is what I can make out so far #????? S-Y-CC. Now that I know the format of the serial number I"ll see if I can make out the five digit number.
 
If the casting number is on the engine, H is 1962. Should be casting numbers on most cast parts. If they are mostly H it is a 1962, OR you have a replacement engine if 1961. Engine serials do not match chassis serials.
 
Kevin: Engine serial number in a 560 will not be close to tractor serial number. Diesel engines would have had their own sequence, thus tractor numbers will be lot higher than engine numbers. His casting code 9*27*H suggests 27th of Sept 1962 as date of engine casting, tractor would be some time after that, maybe even 1963.
 
Gentlemen, Thanks for the information regarding the casting number of 9*27*H on the engine block. I did not know what the H stood for. The casting number for the clutch area is 9*28*H and casting number for the transmission area is 3*10*H. So it would appear this tractor is a 1962 model. I will never be able to get the first three digits of the serial number as they have been destroyed!
 
With that engine # the tractor could be a 63 model or a late 62. Date on the castings are for the day they were cast. They can be cast a few to several months before tractor was assembled.
 
I would agree with you about the castings being done a few months before putting the tractor together. If it is a 1963 that would be great. We do know it at least a 1962 or later.
