weight of IH no. 70 4 btm plow

There is a No. 70 four btm plow coming up on a consignment auction and was wondering how much they way so that I can bring the right trailer. It is in pretty rust shape but complete. What are the going rates on the No. 70s currently? Thanks, andy

I bought a #60 4x16" plow last year for $300. That inclkuded an IH hyd cylinder plus 4 new shares. I can't tell you the weight but I hauled it on a tandem axle car trailer and the old guy that I bought it from loaded it wiyh a SM & loader. FWIW, it was all the old loader would do to lift the plow over the trailer fenders.

Two years ago I paid almost $600 for a #60 3-bottom with no coulters that needed new points, shins, and landsides. I paid too much.

Last spring I picked up another #60 3-bottom that needed nothing but a few adjustments and paint for $300.

IMHO, $100 per bottom if no coulters, $150 per bottom with coulters is a fair price if the iron is usable.

Both of these plows easily rolled up on a single-axle 14' trailer. The 70 is a heavier plow I think, and one more bottom. You should take a tandem axle 16' trailer at minimum.
