574,d239 engine, fuel return check valve psi?

I took the check valve out today IH#528929R1,,the bottom of the tank had some gunk in it,

I tried to apply pressure to the inlet of the valve, it was on my workbench, I started low pressure and had 120psi going into it without the valve popping [to let the return fuel into the tank] I wouldnt think it needs that kind of pressure for a return line??

anyone know what pressure is needed to activate the valve.. I am going to buy a new one but was wondering if I can check this anyway,, tahnsk pat

Never worked on a 574 but on my 756, 1066 just a few PSI will unseat the valve. I think mainly the weight of the fuel on the valve.

Hi, I believe the part you are referring to is just a shut off valve for the fuel tank. If there is any fuel return check valve it is in the T with listed under D-239 as:
Item 4 3055739R1 UNION UNION, special tee
This is located at front of battery box where fuel return line from injectors join fuel line back to fuel line.
