IH 424 Sloppy Steering

I have a 424 with manual steering. Is is very loose with a lot of the play in the worm gear/worm shaft mesh. Is there any reasonable way to fix this? Are parts available? Are rebuilds available? Can the worm gear be turned 180 degrees?

I am not familiar with your steering box but look for a slotted screw with a nut on the bottom, loosen the nut and screw the bolt down to tighten it down. Not all are made this way but a lot were.
