farmall tag

Found this weird tag. It was covered in grease and grime behind the governor. But was wired to where it is. Anybody have any idea what this is about? The numbers are HA5 on it. This is on a Louisville Super M. Serial number is L-506104-DJ
Thanks.

The safety wired governor (nice proof of concept, some have never seen these setups on the governor) is an indication that the system was not to be tampered with. The tag may have been from the factory, or from a dealer with the warranty, or from a farmer that wanted piece of mind that his son would not "exceed" the rated speed. Maybe Guy Fey or others might have an idea on its originality. JimN

Yes it is interesting. This is a one owner Super M. It wasn't used a whole lot. But set for a long time. Motor is stuck and they smashed the grill in. Next in line for restoration. Has to be the straightest and most complete one I've had. Just never seen one with that little tag on it.

I haven't seen a tag like that, and that does not look like it was wired at the factory. However, the D following your serial number means 5000 ft alt attachment, and the HA on the tag means high altitude, the 5 meaning 5000 ft. Could have been hung on by the factory or someone who wanted to easily designate which engine was in the tractor, perhaps at the factory or on some dealers lot with a bunch of SM's. Only a guess.
