1968 model with the TA lever on the left side. It is so stiff that I can barely pull it back and forth. It works fine but its stiff. I looked for a grease fitting and cant find one. I sprayed penetrating oil all over it and it is still stiff. Is there supposed to be a grease fitting or what else can I do. I looked in the manual and found the fitting for the gear shift but not the TA.

Keep spraying it. They should have put a grease zert there, but they did not. I have 4 of these tractors and its a common problem. You can drill it out and install a zert. These are the best 65hp tractors IH ever built.

I just got this tractor going and put a new d282 clutch and everything. I pulled a 8 foot bush hog with it today and I could not believe the power. My neighbors got a kubota that is supposed to be 70 horse and his tractor is a wuss compared to my red steel. His tractor don't like that bush hog on the steep hills but not this one. The only thing is the glow plugs have to be heated up bout every time you start it especially in the morning. I would take every one I could find for what I have in this one.

I find that once I've broken something loose from its rusted-solid-state, that motor oil outshines the penetrant (PB blaster in my case) as far as getting it working smoothly again.

Of course nothing beats tearing it down to a good scotchbrit-ing and then reassembly.

its getting better and I am using the old style oil can with a modified nozzle thats bout a foot long just to reach it. Thanks
