240 bolwing hyd fluid

New to me tractor. 240U with power steering and fasthitch only. After 10-15 sec. of run time hyd fluid starts to be blown out the vent. :( The hyd pump is NOT being forced to run at high pressure. Happens even if no input to steering or fasthitch. Any ideas? Also, can hyd valves from a 300 rowcrop be added to the 240 hyd system? Also, it calls for hy-tran in the rear end, but my super C calls for regular gear lube. Is it safe to go with gear lube in the rear end of the 240? Isn't it the same rear end as the super C? Thanks for any help. Mike

Could be the screen stopped up. My IH 240 U uses 90 wt in the trans/rear end. The hydraulics has a small reservoir under the gas tank. The top plug behind the clutch housing (about 1") is the fill and the front of the three plugs at the bottom is the drain. David...................

Hydra-touch valve for the 240 & 240U is 371 061 R92. If you can find the part# of the 300, that should tell you if they were the same. However, if I had an uneducated guess, I'd say no. Also, there are a bunch of other parts involved that certainly would not be the same. My 240U has a dual Hydra-touch set-up plus the 3 point system. My valves are not plumbed to quick-disconnects at the rear, but there are QDs directly off the valves under the gas tank.
By any chance, is your reservoir just overfull?
