52 MD small brass insert in head

I have a small threaded brass nut that has a threaded hole(about 3/16's) in it in the left side of the head on my 52 MD.
It is located between the two middle fuel injectors. Any idea what this is and what its function was? Thanks

I believe you will find that fitting should have a metal line approx.3/8 or 1/2 that produces a vent from the top of the head and runs to the air cleaner can just above the main air tube.

This fitting is lower down on the head,between the two middle fuel injectors. It is not the vent to the air cleaner.
