Farmall H - Heisler Live Pto

Picked up a non running H at a auction a few weeks back. Mainly because it had the Heisler Live PTO unit on it.(Needed a tractor to bale 4 acres with)
Spent the last few weeks removing 60 years of oil, grease and dirt from it.After cleaning points, doing a compression check...115#,115#,120#,115#. Fired it up yesterday. Everything seems get and works fine.
Now to the question. What do you guys know about these? The pto will run fine. But not sure if the Heisler unit is working properly. It will run the PTO with the clutch pushed in.It seems to work like a hand clutch on a Deere. When the handle is in the backwards position the tractor stops Pto runs,Push forward and tractor moves with PTO running. But it doesn"t seem to Snap into a positve locked position. Maybe a detent that is sticking? Any info or related documents would be appecerated. Thanks

The PTO will not provide power with the main clutch pushed in. It will if the Heisler lever is in either position.
The Heisler unit is a high capacity friction clutch, that is disconnecting one set of final drive pinion/Bull gears. This is the same as having a steering clutch in a dozer, except this has a differential and when one side is disconnected, the internal gears act like that wheel is on ice, and the other wheel does nothing.
Thus the tractor stops, and the trans keeps going.
powering the PTO shaft.
It is still necessary to use the main clutch to shift gears, as all internal gears will turn and grind if the main clutch is not pushed in when shifting. JimN

Should the handle SNAP into the forward position, seems it should have a detent that holds it forward.
