Hello. I have a 1943 Farmall M and would like to know which is correct for the belt pulley, paper or steel? Which was more common? Was one only used for a short time? Any help will be greatly appreciated. THANKS

Paper was the most common and are the easiest to find now. The "correct" pulley was determined by what was to be powered or driven, and could have been either the paper or the steel pulley. Different diameters were also available so that the correct "belt speed" could be achieved.

i snooped thru guy fays book on the letter series, in the super m section it says cast iron pulleys were supplied because the supplier of the paper pulleys had gone out of business. looks like your m would have a paper pulley.
