I need to remove the transmission fill plug on my 1951 Farmall Model-H, anyone know what the size is? Any advice on creating a tool? Possibly use the end of a square piece of stock steel etc with a pipe wrench?

1 inch square. I use a 3/4 female adapter to 1 inch male on my 3/4 drive. I belive the plug is 1 or 1 1/4 pipe threads.

Square stock with a wrench should work. I didnt have any stock that fit so I took a scrap of bed frame and welded it into a square of the correct size so it fit the plug. Then I welded that to a large nut I scavenged from work. I welded the inside solid but Im not sure it was needed as the plug came out easy. A little red paint and it looks good.

I purchased a 3/4" ratchet and a 3/4" to 1" adapter. The one inch was two big and the 3/4" ratchet directly was slightly loose but worked fine. Looks like the plug size varies?

Thanks for the replies!!
Regards, Ron
