throttle not engaging on a farmall h

I have been using my farmall h tractor for awhile and one day I hit a bump in my pastor and the tractor stopped working. I have put a new carburator, points, drained the fuel and replaced it but the tractor will not throttle up. it will start but just barely. I am looking for any suggestions or help.
 
Sounds like you may have a problem with the speed control linkage or the governor, but we need more information. What happens when you open the throttle plate right at the carburator?

Pastor = person who leads services at your church.
Pasture = something you'd hit a bump in while driving your Farmall H.

I'd imagine that if you hit your pastor, God has smote your tractor and it will never run again :)

Unfortunately you have fallen for the biggest scam... NEVER buy a new carburetor. If it doesn't look broken, it isn't broken, and any carburetor problems can be fixed with some cleaning solution and a $25 rebuild kit.

That said, there is nothing wrong with your old carburetor. Hopefully you can take the new one back for a refund.

Something broke in the linkage from the throttle lever to the carburetor. You need to start at the throttle lever and follow the linkage down to the governor, which is on the left front of the engine connected to the carburetor by a tube. The problem may be inside the governor too.

Also make sure that the little drive dog from the governor properly engages the throttle plate where the tube connects the carb to the governor.
 

Not to argue your point on the carburetors, but I have three H carburetors that I took in as cores. All three are broken beyond use, and all three were just fine BEFORE an inexperienced owner tried to "do it yourself".
 
Give the guy a break. So he can't spell but he has a problem with his tractor.

I agree with Roy and Rustred. Pull that plate off the side of the governor case and look for the broken spring first.

Also, I can of quite a few pastors that might need run over with a Farmall H. A whole bunch of politicians might need run over, too.
