electrical system for farmall 100 circa 1955-1960

factory would have been 6v positive ground. if it has been changed to a 12v it would be negative ground.

Well Andrew Z is correct if it has a automotive alternator on it (more than likely, but they do make pos ground 12v alternators). But if the tractor has a generator, it could be either ground, and be OK. Generators, and most regulators do not care which polarity they operate with, just so they are polarized to the system being used before starting the engine. A page back or so, I gave a test on determining the polarity of an Alternator if in doubt. JimN
