300 hub ?'s

I got done putting the wheels on the 300 this weekend and when I put the wheel weights back on I noticed that one of the wheel weights was turned differently than the other side. It isn't turned right around the hub bolts. It's off by a 1/4 turn. Couldn't figure it out till we noticed that the bolt holes on the hub for the weights were in different spots than the other side. Holes still lined up with the weights. Then we noticed the part numbers: 363019-R1 and 363019-R2. Whats the difference? I was thinking that the R2 number is superseded from R1. Dad had a hub replaced 20 some years ago. I'm sure it was used one he put on and was wondering if it came from newer tractor (350 or 460). I just couldn't figure out why the weight is turned. It just looks a little goofy to me like I don't know how to put the tractor back together.

You are correct. R indicates a minor revision to the part.

The difference probably isn't detectable, other than the part number.

Hopefully you've figured out that you can remove the wheel weight, turn it 1/4 turn, and reinstall it...

Probably the same thing found on some early 400 8 spoke wheels. They must have cast and drilled the wheels wrong. Instead of weight holes being squared with the keyway there off about 45 degrees. Also saw them with 8 holes drilled, with one set correcting problem, looked factory drilled or a good job by someone. 363019 R2 is a 300 wheel with a little more material added at hub. Later 300 started using wheel 364698 R1 which used a axle key separate from wheel.
Which one of your wheels is wrong. Ones I found on 400 were mostly cast in december of 1954. Sounds like your saying the later wheel is wrong on yours.

The one that is wrong is the one with R2 on it. It is off 45 degrees like you said. No matter which way I put it on it is wrong.

I turned the wheel weight 2 times. After 5 different guys looking at it with me we all soon realized that no matter which way we turned it, it would still be 45 degrees off.

Most wheels with that # are not like that. You just got a oddball. Maybe a employee with next day hangover.
