Help ID a 1 Row Planter

I was given a one row planter by my grand father that came with his Super A. The planter fits under the belly of the tractor on a tool bar with row markers. The planter also has what I call bedders on each side of the fur opener. It looks some what like the Cub 174 planter but has row markers and the flat metal pieces on each side that ride on the ground. I have been looking for a picture of a 179 planter but haven't had any luck.
I know this isn't a lot of info but and ideas or directions would be a great help.
Thanks,
Keith

Could be a 174 with some of the optional equipment such as the depth gauge shoe, disc openers and on and on.

The Owners manual for the 174 and 180 (same as 179)are available from case/IH for $10-$15. It sounds like a ground unit with the gage shoe or row sweeps (to level off top of row when planting on hills) and they had a set of discs behind the seed tube to cover the seed. Both will work on either cub, SA or 140 etc..depending on the tool bar you used. The basic ground unit is the same. The owners manuals show how to set up, different seed hoppers and various optional equipment. If you have trouble finding the manuals, I can send you copy of mine if you let me know.

Thanks for the offer Tom but I am selling the 140 and could not remember the planter model. I went thru this some time back and had all info in my PC. It crapped out and I lost the info.
Thanks,
Keith

Ah-ha...What kind of seed hopper do you have? I am looking for seed plates and other parts for type C duplex hopper. Your ground unit is a 179 or 180 more than likely...179 is blackland (has row buster) and 180 is runner. Should you have extra parts, I may be your guy. If all you want is pic you may can go case/ih site, click on parts and enter "planter" in model # and it will bring up parts manual with pictures of the things. Not all models on there but later ones are..I think 179 and 180 are listed..
