C-196 engine

I found where it was posted back several years ago but the link has long since be removed. Anyway I picked up a LeRoi Q125GE compressor last fall and it has the IHC C-196 engine in it. I would like to find the tune-up specs for the engine if possible. A service manual for the engine or complete compressor would be better yet. Thanks much for any help.

Never heard of a C-196 IH engine. Are you sure it's not a C-169?

A 196 is a four cylinder that is half of a 392 V8. There is also a smaller version that is half of a 304 V8. The most common usage was in Scouts, and some pickup trucks.

Yes it is a C-196. As stated was mostly used by the truck division. They were half the V392. Since this engine is mostly run at full power I am guessing that total timing will be around 22 degrees. Would suspect point gap will be same as the V8's but would like to know for sure.
