Farmall 450 Hi-Clear

I don't suppose anyone out there would have a picture of this tractor (450 High Crop) from the rear? I found a 450 with axle housings that are unusual and it makes me wonder...so I thought I would see if you guys had any info/pictures on this model.

Looked in Tractor Photos to your left, couldn't find a 450, but the configuration will be the same as in the link -- you really don't need a rear view as the HV/MV up had the same configuration.

L, high altitude cylinder head; C, LPG; F, high drum cotton picker mounting attachment (tractor will have a single front wheel, not the WF in the preceding link); S means torque amplifier with provision for 540 rpm PTO. Cotton is not grown at high altitudes, however the LPG attachment could be the reason for that head. The letters should follow the serial number -- what is the serial, and the serial prefix, if you can still read it?

I didn't get too close (show too much interest) as I didn't want the guy to realize I may want to buy it. The stamped letters are plain as day. I think the numbers could be made out, BUT I didn't notice the plate too closely. I did notice flanges..I guess that is the word, on the outside of the rear axles, but it looks as if it were converted to a regular "configuration". Regular 450 hubs and a rowcrop front end. I know it has a breather cap that I have seen on cotton tractors, but wasn't sure if there were "tell-tell" signs, short of looking at the casting numbers.

If it is a F 450 High Clear it will have chain drive drop boxes and only one gear shift mounting hole and was standard with wide front end. If it is a cotton picker tractor converted to go forward, it will have bull gear drop boxes and two gearshift mounting holes which indicate the transmission is reversed, and probably a 7:50 x 20 single front wheel. The reversable transmission top was originally for low drum pickers but was installed on a lot of high drum tractors to make them go forward for spray tractors, etc.
