S on block

On my 1950 super a there is an "S" casted on the block. What does this mean?

If it in the format of month*day*S, it means it was cast on that month and day in 1949. Those codes should be on other cast pieces. S was 1949, T was 1950. If the S is alone, I don't have an answer. There may be an L alone on most cast parts, meaning the part was cast in Louisville.

It is approximately and inch and a half tall. Casted on the lower left side by itself.
