I have picked up so much good info on this site. I have noticed that the overall thought is 6Volt is OK, especially with good battery cables.

Well a guy gave me some cables he got at a job site where they do elctoplating.

The cables are marked "2/0 Flex-a-prene -40c +90c
600V Made in USA" They are about 4' long. Even the right colors, one red, one black.

Problem is they have a lug one each end with about 1/2 inch hole.

How do I get a battery cable end on one end?
I dont care much for the bolt on kind. Can you get ones to solder on?

Thanks, Gene

Gene, I have tried the solder on type and found the copper coating is real thin and will work loose. The way I do them is get a good lead battery terminal.bolt type, and solder the copper wire to the lead, then tighten the bolts. I have used them for years that way without a problem. Clem Seivert

Don't care for the bolt on type either.

NAPA has both the kind you solder on and the crimp on kind. If I wanted the crimp on kind, I would find an auto electrical shop that caters to the heavy duty truck trade. They will likely have the correct terminals and crimping tools.

PS Don't forget the heat shrink tubing.

Gene go to a dealer that repairs big trucks he has the ends that you need. The IH truck dealer here makes them for us puts electric greese on the strands and crimps them never have a problem with them. We use them on our snow plow trucks using sand and salt. Good luck Bob

i dunno gene, i"d be real scared of them cables, could be from some kind of atomic power plant reactor or something. safest thing for you to do is disconnect the battery from the tractor, load it up on a trailer and haul it up to me. i got a hundred dollars in small unmarked bills i will trade you for that super h !!!!!!!!!!!
