Hi all, I'm going to buy new plugs for my '38 F-20. I need to know the part number for the Champion plug that fits the F-20.

Thanks,
Andy

Andy I know you like the Champion plugs but I've hand nothing but troubles with them in my F-20's. I switched over to the Autolight 3076 and have had no problems. Plus they are half the price of the Champions.

andy asked for a plug # and nobody gave it yet. i believe its W14 thats the common one. you can go up or down in heat ranges.they must be trying to put champion out of business, by bashing them.it dont matter what plug you use you can have a failure.give some of your reasons guys.

Like the others said youd be better off to go with Autolite 3077s. Ive got nothing against champion, we use them in our other gas tractor and cars and trucks. But like the others I have found they just do not work as well with my F-12. I went to the 3077s on the reccomendation of the Cowman, and it runs (and starts) better than before. Just my experience.

they will eventually put themselves out of business by continuing to make shi*produstc. I have used them in the past so dont think im on the aotulite bandwagon without any prior experience :!:

My F-20 currently has 4 BRAND NEW Autolite 3076's in it and they are JUNK. They have no fire at all. I have used Autolites in cars, trucks, vans, mowers, tractors, small engine and have had a lot of problems. I use Champion and NEVER had any problems. I'll put in the Champion W-18 or W-20. Any spark plug can have problems, but the Autolites have been the most trouble for me.

Thanks,
Andy

Andy, go with the W-18's unless you are burning a bit of oil, then go with the W-20's. The hotter W-20 will burn the electrode faster if used heavily under load, which will change the gap, and eventually fail. However, if you have leaky valve guides, or worn rings, they are the ticket for good ignition.

Quite frankly, I have used both Autolite and Champion without any noticable difference. But to be clear, the only work my old girls get is an occasional antique tractor pull, or pulling logs out of the woods.

However, as with any product, then can be a bad batch, or design flaws that are corrected in later production runs.

I say run what works for you.......
