300 Utility : Need handles for Hydraulic Valves

Hi, I have a 300 Utility with a U-34 loader. The aluminum handles that operate the hydraulic valves are junk. Has anyone made their own handles? I just need something to engage the splined shaft on the valve. Any suggestions would be helpful.

The last time I checked were still able to get them through CaseIH (Couple years ago) "pricey"

Provided they are the same as the 300 row crop, Steel Wheel Ranch might have them -- 785-548-7437, or Bates Corp -- 800-248-2955. Both specialize in IH.

My 330 has the same type of valve, and some previous owner replaced the handle with a box end wrench. I don't recall what size it is, and don't know what keeps it on the shaft. It is short and a little unhandy, but I have never taken the time to weld an extension on it. If you have the valve apart the size should be easy to figure out.

There is a little insert in the existing handle made from steel. If it is stripped in the handle, use it and make a new handle from 3/16X3/4" strap bent and welded to the insert. (been there) JimN

If you're not a stickler for originality, you may want to consider a small pair of vise grips. That worked well on my 300U until they sprouted legs one day.
