Will an IH C135 engine fit physically in place of a C153 in an IH 504?

same block family. more than likely. But, Farmall and International models of 504 mount differently. Farmalls have frame rails, the IH models do not, so the front for sure is different. Look at different tractor models and the case ih parts book/website to see if you can make the modification or if you need a different block. look up the engines, they will come up on the website under C-135 and C-153. You can also obtain sleeves in many situations that allow you to bore a sleeveless engine like the 153 out, insert the dry sleeve and install a standard piston/ring set. Many machine shops can do this, although it is more laborious. Cost wise, a 135 might be cheaper, but you will lose some horsepower. finding a diesel might work, but i recall that discussion topic recently, so look back a week or so and refer to that.

The 504 and 340 engine blocks are not interchangable with the power units or the A B C series. The insides are the outsides arent.
