Farmall A clutch problem

I just got my Farmall A running right and when I drive it I noticed a clutch issue. When you place your foot on the pedal and rest it there (no pressure) it feels like the pedal is jittery. The clutch does engage and disengage. The pedal just is jittery and if you look at your foot it is moving up and down just a little. Any suggestions. THANKS

The clutch needs adjusted for free play. It sounds like your throwout bearing is engaging with the pedal out. It should take an inch or more of pedal travel before that happens. There is a specification in the manual for the exact amount of free play the pedal should have.

John, just in case you've never adjusted your clutch yet, here's a picture from my Super-A, where the adjustment is done. The inspection hole is at the rear of the torque tube, underneath. (I'm trusting that the A and SA are the same)

#1 is the yoke attached to the brake pedal, and it's 'horseshoe'-shaped, and loops up and over the nuts and threaded rod and down again, and is all one piece.
At #2, there is a hole in the yoke which is NOT threaded, (much as it may look like it is), and is there so that the threaded rod can move back and through the yoke.
#3 are the two nuts that do the adjusting. The pedal pushes the rod forward, which pushes the throwout bearing forward to engage on the clutch. So if your clutch is already too tight, you have to work those nuts to get the rod to move rearward a sufficient amount to get an inch of freeplay at the pedal, like Dave already said.
If I don't have this bass-ackward (LOL), loosening the right nut, and 'tightening' the left nut will pull the rod rearward. When you have it right, re-tightening the right nut will lock the adjustment.

Are all the fingers on the pressure plate adjusted so they are the same measurement to the throw out bearing. They should not be touching the pressure plate when the clutch is not enguaged.
