First IH or Farmall to use the "suitcase weight"

Does anyone know what rear or series the suitcase weight was first used on? Thanks!

Possibly as early as the 560, but for sure on the 706 and 806.

I know the weight bracket off of a 706 will bolt onto a 560. What else would those holes on the front of a 560 be used for?

the 460-560 had the option of slab weight that would bolt in the same place as the weight bracket these slab weight are rare most 560 i know including mine has the weight bracket

Jon: They were an option that came with 460-560. I had them on my 560, 656 and 1066, and all mounting brackets would interchange. They weren't very well known until the 06 series came along. Just one of those options that took awhile to catch on. Even in 1965 it was still cheaper to fabricate a steel rock box. Rock boxes were very popular in areas were there were 3 rocks the size of one's head to the acre. Soil that for all intents was rock free except that ocasional rock.
