Your tractors definitely look nice. But, you mentioned shows -- The correct decal for the older W4's is IH McCormick Deering. The Deering was dropped beginning in mid-1949, however your grill emblem says McCormick Deering, along with the old one before it was painted. It does not bother me, and it is your tractor.

Looking good. I know some of the hard work you put into them. I almost have one done and have another to do. David........

What are you working on??? Yea there are days its just like i am not making any headway.. I bet we won't have the Super C done and we'll have an M waiting next.. We are keeping an eye out for an M..

Nice tractors! I was very excited to see them because I have restored an H and a W4 as well. My H was the first tractor I restored and has been used quite a bit over the 8 years or so since then.

My W4, however, was my latest project, and it's a '49 just like yours! Mine was painted John Deere green with yellow wheels when I bought it though.

I was interested to see the other post about the decals. Mine had a McCormick Deering hood emblem on it that I was certain was original, so I put McCormick Deering decals on it just to match. I've actually taken some flak for not putting McCormick ones on like yours (because most people say that's technically correct) but I chose the older style when I heard that IH had a habit of throwing on left over signage right from the factory. As far as I'm concerned, we're both right!

Plus, don't tell anyone, but I put my "Standard" decals on the gas tank (because I liked them there) and I used Oliver red because it was brighter. Shhh :)

Enough about me though. Your tractors are beautiful and I very much enjoyed seeing the pictures you have online. I hope I can get a nice new set of Field & Road tires soon so mine will look more like yours!

Guy Fay would be the one to answer that -- but it seems to me that the grill emblem and the hood decal should match.

I can't remeber right off.. But I think the W4 built in early 49.. I have the complete history of the tractor from the guy who's dad bought it new and we got it off. But I didn't relize they changed the Deering half way through 49... Thanks for the heads up anyway.

I had a couple people tell me that I messed it up by using some new bolts and not the ones with the dot on the top.. I just say its the way it should have been made if I was to make... ;-) I personally don't like anything on the tank and left the stickers for it off totally.. I totally believe do it the way you like it and enjoy, because it you that has to pay for it drive it and look at it.. You got to love this hobby. Its addictive..

Hey (Farmall JD) I forgot to ask where you are from. I'm from central MN, but my W4 came from way up in Saskatchewan somewhere. Just curious!

Eric. Why did you want to get a W4??? I am in central Ontario. Our W4 came from my next door neighbor. His dad bought it new. It seen some work but not much, my dad drove this tractor when he was a kid. But the little joke around here is that the guy that owned it had a box on the back and everyone thought he was running Shine.
