WD-6 hydraulic system

I would like to purchase a WD-6 hydraulic pump (the one behind the distributor) and tank. Are there other IH tractors the pump could come from? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

One off an MD will work, its the same engine. The diesel engines turn the pump (and magneto) in the opposite direction of the gas engines, so they're not interchangeable between gas & diesel.

My WD-6 came with an old caterpillar hydraulic pump mounted on the front of the chassis in the hole where a crank would go, & driven by a shaft directly off the crankshaft. Just about any hydraulic pump should work with this arrangement. Someone had to make up an adapter plate & the shaft, but it works just fine. I did acquire a pump that mounts on the magneto drive off of an MD, but haven't gotten around to changing it yet.

Depends on your tractor. If your tractor has a magneto drive housing with a 4 digit casting number I think your limited to a M&W pump # 203PX for MD and WD6 tractors, unless front engine cover and plate is changed. If you have a late WD6 with 6 digit casting # on mag. drive housing, a pump from SWD6, SMD, 400 D and 450 D will work. Also a M&W pump # 204PX.

Forgot to add that 600, 650 and some 9 series gas and diesel equiped with IH type hydraulic pumps work on late front engine cover also.
