Hey Everyone, Anyone that knows me knows that I am a Die Hard John Deere Guy, But I have found a 1939 Model H, Serial Number 501-3. I put a message here earlier but didnt get much response. Now some people are telling me that the first few Hs didnt have serial numbers? Some say they did? What should I look for here. It is Serial Number 501 on the Tag. Should it say 501 on the right frame rail as well? or? Let me know your thoughts, I have a few serial number 1 tractors and would like to add this one to my line up. Thanks..------ ------

I don't know so much about the early serial # issue, but as an owner of an H and a W4 myself, I'd sure love to see pictures of yours! Maybe you could post a few when you get a chance? Thanks!

I would post a call for Guy Fay, You can also check the casting codes, almost all the cast parts have them. The codes have month, day and the letter is the year, for 39 they should be I,then check if they are all I's

Serial is on the frame rail, no tag. -- I seriously doubt if you have found 501. If Guy Fay or Ken Updike reads this he can clear it up. Also, post this on the forum on www.redpowermagazine.com -- you will have to register.

What does it say on the engine serial number? Are there any more letters on the chassis serial tag? Can you post a photo of the tag?
