Aux safety valve (plug/fitting/seal?) removal

On my 300u with power steering, I can not figure how to get the auxillary safety valve plug (sometimes called a fitting or seal) out to replace the ball and spring. This plug fits flush with the safety block and is smooth so a wrench or screw driver will not grab it.
My Case/IH dealer and local hydraulic shop are both stumped. I really need help!

Jimer,I will be going thru my Regulator Safety and Flow Control Valve within 2-3 weeks. So I am a little curious about your question also.I am looking at my parts book and wondering if you can access the spring and ball from the plug and screen ,ref#10 part#370766r91.I would check that screen, make sure it is good & clean.Hope you post back with results.Lester

The cylinder for the flow control valve passes entirely though the regulator and safety valve block which is in front (back?) of the auxillary safety valve spring #24. Therefore, I think there must be something the spring is against before this cylinder. The only thing I can figure out is the plug #26 (sometimes called a fitting or seal) must come out. But the head of it is smooth.
I, my local IH shop foreman and the local hydraulic shop are all stumped. I am now trying an old IH mechanic who is checking his books for me to see how this is done. If I have any success, I will post back. The screen you said to check is clean.
