Rebuild M Belly Pump ?

Well, after I got my newly aquired mod. 1100 sickle mower fixed up, hooked up, hydraulic lines all plumbed to the belly pump, I gave the lever a pull... NUTHIN! Shoulda known. Dropped er outta the tractor last night using the two all thread w/ nuts method. Pulled er apart. Noticed the ear off of the cam valve and piston lever spring was broken off and missing. Yup, sometime before the ol' M followed me home that ear it had been sucked up into the pump intake, took some ugly chunks out of the gears and pump body, before stripping the threads between the pump shaft and the drive coupling.

Dang.

So, my questions are: Is it worth trying to have the gears welded and machined. Find a new shaft/ coupling? And rebuild.
OR, just try to find a replacement pump?
Anyone west of the rockies have an M belly pump they wanna part with?

Not willing to spend the $1000 to put in a live pump.

Phone's started ringing for second cutting, and I'd like ta get er back in action.

Thanks for the help!

Ben

I know this doesn't really help you in Oregon, but here in Illinois I bought one in a salvage yard for 100 bucks. The guy told me he would give me another one if it didn't work. I would check around close to home.

Good Luck

Pullers often remove them to reduce Wt. But they may scrap them as well. The puller Board may have an answer. JimN

I had good luck with one from e-bay. Just get the pump and not the entire unit so shipping isn't too bad.

Forget trying to fix the gears. I believe those belly pumps are the same in both the H and M, so you are looking at around half a million of them made! Should be no problem to find a good used pump at a very reasonable price!
