Hi all,
Me and my Dad both painted by Dad's 1944 Farmall H. I think it looks nice. We are going to bring it to the Field Days tractor show in Park Rapids, MN on August 2nd and 3rd along with my 1943 Farmall H. Thanks for the help on hooking up the live pump, it seems to be working right.

You painted it today and it's already sitting outside in tall grass? Did you paint it there in the tall grass? If so, why isn't there some red paint on the grass? How fast does that paint dry? Sounds a bit fishy to me!!!

iam going to wait a few days before i put my decals on.yours looks good what kind of paint, i used tractor supply restoration & hardner.

Shadows are pretty long in the pictures so I would say he took the pictures late.

Paint will dry in about 1 hour in good conditions.

I put 3 coats of paint on a 1066 and put the tin work back on in one day.

It's possible.

In support of Andy, he is a very ethical young man. If he said today, he meant it. The tractor is beautiful. If he had said he began taking the sand paper to it this morning, I would agree he was stretching. Rome was not etc.

Most of the tractor was painted the day before, (hood, grille, wheels and rims, etc), then the the day after we painted the rest of the tractor, I put on thin coats at a time so that the paint dries faster. I started painting early and when it was dry, Me and my Dad drove our H's back for some pictures, do you notice that the "FARMALL" emblem is not on the tractor in the picture? It was the last part painted so it had to dry before being put on.

Thanks for looking.

Andy.

Thanks Jim, part of the tractor was painted the day before so all the sheetmetal got a good chance to dry. The rest of the tractor was painted early in the day, so it was dry when my Dad drove it into the grass for some pictures.

Thanks for the help on hooking up the live pump!

Thanks,
Andy.

Tractor looks great. I have been painting the parts before I re-installed them on my 39 M, not sure if I want to do a complete paint job or leave it as is. Kindly gives it that old look the now. Harley

Andy, Some day your dad will be gone, and projects like this will stay with you forever. Cherish the time you get to spend with him. You are what you are, because of what your folks teach you. As far as the detractors who wonder why the grass isn't sticking to the paint, we know what you meant, and what you did, and Pi** on everything else.

Gee whiz, Ron. If you can't say something nice.....

Good job, Andy! We're proud of your efforts and results. mike

The tractor looks great!!!From the photos no one would suspect that it wasn't painted by a pro. Inspires me to paint mine. You should be proud.

Thanks, Yep, that's a Wico X mag on it, we were going to use the old IH ignition, but the Wico mag was the only one that would fit with the live pump installed. If we would have used the IH distributor, the plug wire holes in the cap would be tight against the oil filter canister and I would not be ables to get the plug wires in. The Wico mag works good.

I think it took about 10 cans of red, 2 cans of aluminum, and we used a small can of black brush paint to paint the black parts on the tractor.

Thanks,
Andy.

Thanks, it looks real good next to my 1943 Farmall H. We are taking both our tractors to the Field Days show tommorrow.

Thanks,
Andy.

Thanks. I bet your M would look good if it was painted or not, I like them painted, but they look nice not painted too.
