Additives are somewhat different -- for that tractor it makes no difference. For the later models I have read that you can use JD fluid in IH, but not the other way around, although people differ on that too.

Any AW-32 type hydraulic oil will work fine in a 240. It does not require the brake additives and things the newer ones do.

Also, if by no access you mean no CaseIH dealer, most farm stores sell fluid that meets Hytran specs, same with JD, bulk suppliers will too.
