756 PTO problem

MOST LIKELY a broken pin, a part of the valve that the PTO linkage from the lever lifts up on when you engage the PTO. It's down inside the housing, beneath the valve. Then, after repairs are made, the PTO pressure needs to be checked and set to "spec".

Unhook the PTO from the mower for safety, and shut the tractor off.

Operate the PTO lever, and CAREFULLY watch the linkages from the handle down to the PTO unit. Everything should move. The handle should twist a shaft that runs across behind the seat. The shaft should lift a lever that pulls on a rod that runs to the PTO unit.

It's very common for the roll pin on that lever to shear off.
