I Found a late 50"s Farmall Cub(it has the three vertical stripes in the center of the grill and tin letters)the other day. It appeared to be complete, it has an underslung exhaust. The tin is in perfect shape and I mean perfect, still has the original tin letters. Looks like it just needs paint. Tires are O.K. and appear to be usable. What would something like this be worth? I"m in N.W. Washington if that helps. I don"t think the owner has a clue what it is worth so I think I can get it in the $500 or less range, is that a good Deal?

I have a 1959 Cub. I'm in central Ohio. In my part of the country, if the cub runs good, looks good, and doesn't need anything like a new seat or steering wheel, and the tires are good it would be worth about $1800.00 with an implement, maybe a mower. I have a plow, disc, set of cultivators, wheel weights, and the rear pully assembly for a belly mower. I wouldn't sell mine for less than $3000.00, but it's not for sale. rw

Absolutely! I bought mine (a 48) for $800 w/bad clutch & welded torque tube. Stuck another $750 in it fixing the clutch, new bearings, etc. in the tranny & a salvage yard torque tube. I think I've got a good buy, but then there are not many Cubs in our part of the world, I only know of 4 others within a 100 mile radius. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Got my Cub Lowboy last saturday for $1900 from a John Deere dealership. Thay had it listed for $2495. Has 3 new tires, Very good tin and paint,Fast-Hitch, wheel wieghts and a trip bucket loader. I,m happy with it. Iron

the cub your describing could be a 1955,1956, 1957, or a 1958
the ways to tell the year by the sheetmetal is
1955-all the sheet metal woulld be red
1956-all the metal would be red exceptfor the grille which is white
1957and58- the grille and the place where the name strips would be white

You won't believe this one, but I went to buy a 1955 cub two weeks ago. Nothing special, flat tire, junky mower, I figured $2000 would bring it home, but because it was close I decided to go to $3000 because freight is an issue further away. The auctioneer got $6300 and the buyer didn't know anything about cubs, he wanted a lettered vintage and didn't know that this was past the supers and into the numbered tractors.
Go figure...Darald in Sask.
