444 Filter Canister

I just did an oil change on my "new" 444 and noticed that I was missing the pressure plate, spring and some washers and other stuff. I Don't know how long its been like that, I've only had it for two months.
I ordered a complete filter assembly but I noticed on the Case site that they have two kinds of filter canisters. One is a Tecalemit, which I ordered and the other is a Purolator.
If it turns out that I do have a Purolator, I know that the internals are not interchangeable. But as a unit are they interchangeable?
Its a British Built 444
Thanks,
James

strangely enough my friend and I both have 2444's (industrial 444) and neither one has the springs in them. Been that way for many years...

You're not worried that your engine is getting no filtering what so ever? I just got myself a 6' rear discharge finishing mower and anxious to get her going. Might just take her for a spin while I'm waiting for shipping.

we just plug the neck on the filter donw in the hole, had not noticed it coming loose yet.
I think the oil flow helps keep it pushed down in there. The best I can find out these tractors came that way. They were bought used from the Army Coprs of engineers about 25 years ago.

I dont have a parts manual for the engine, guess i should go to an online source and see if they list the springy thing.

Naah they have made it since 68 that way. Ours are the US versions with the c153 gas engine.
