I just bought a 350 diesel today. It has been sitting in the trees for nearly 10 years per the owner's wife. Can anyone tell me where to buy engine parts for the Continental engine? I have not tried Case/IH, but thought I would check here first. This will be my seventh tractor. It is the first non letter series tractor, so I am branching out (thought about a John Deere, but that thought passed quickly). Roger

I restored one several years ago, Montys Equipment in Chicago 312-225-2660 worked for me then.

The 350 diesel tractor only used the Continental engine for the first year of production until they (IH) could build their own diesel. In the 350, the Continental is 193 cubic inches and the IH is 166 cubic inches which makes the Continental substantially more powerful. I have a Continental powered 350 that has an original Roosamaster pump and it is STRONG. This is a relatively rare tractor as it only used this engine in 1957.
I can't remember where I saw it but a little web searching will find a supplier located in the Chicago area that bought out everything Continental had when they closed their doors. Maybe someone here can remember their name?

Although most 350's were built in 1957, they were also produced in 1956 and 1958, until the 460 came out. Same engine in all 3 years. About 1400 were built in 1956, about 3000 in 1958, a little over 13000 in 1957. The 350 was replaced by the 460, which had a 6 cylinder gas, LP, or diesel engine. The 166 was in the 340 and perhaps others. The 340 did arrive in late 1958 about the time (I would guess later) the 460 arrived, that may be what you mean, as the IH began making more models about that time. But the 340 is closer to the smaller 240 than it is the 350.

The D166 was only used in the 340D. As far as I know it was similar to the diesel in the 460, but 2 less cylinders. I have been looking for one for about a year now for my 340. Came diesel, but the guy before us switched it to gas, and I want to switch it back. Between the WD-9 and 340, I picked the wrong 2 IH diesels to work on.

will the 460 pistons fit the 166?

the 166 is the same as the D188 put in the 504's but they changed the crank and deck height on the piston

According to Guy Fays's data book 4191 Farmall row crops, 21 Farmall high clearance, 3033 International utilities, which probably include a few 350 Hi Utilities, and 350 wheatlands -- those are not broken out separately.

Go to a Case IH dealer or try some after market parts too. They still make alot of parts yet for a 350 D.

The 350 diesel is a "continental" engine. The coninental engine was used in lots of tractors and even some trucks over the years, so i am sure that you can find a supplier of parts, but I don't know who or where. You might check with Massey-Harris boys, quite a few of those older Masseys used the continental engine, at least in the gasoline version.

I sure don't know; haven't got the first hint of a clue.

However, I've heard that ya can't even get parts for 'em anymore. :>(
