They never made one to fit a IH 300 series tractor.

Re: Heisler 9 Speed Transmission. in reply to Levi K, 02-15-2006 15:44:36
I can't answer your questions on cost and installation issues but wanted to let you know the Heisler 9 speed is a very nice addition. I have one on my 1951 M but it doesn't do anything to 5th gear. 5th remains the same standard 5th that IH put in the tractor when it was built. The Heisler on my M, adds 4 more gears with speeds between the standard 4th and 5th the tractor was built with. You end up with like an 11 MPH 4th which gets down the road with a real load. You have to watch out so you don't "overspeed" you belly pump as as it will be driven at a higher RPM if engaged. I have a disconnent on the M to disengage the pump when in the higher speeds which is part of the Heisler installation. I have seen very few of these for sale over the past couple of years and might be a difficult find. Good luck and hopes this helps, Hal.

can you tell me where the shift lever is on a heisler? I have 2 M's, both 9 speeds, one the lever is disconnected inside. I would like to know for sure what brand they are. Thanks

My shift lever for the Heisler is about 15" long and appears to be a cast part. It is located near the forward left corner of the transmission cover or platform and is positioned up like the regular gear shift. It is connected to an adjustable link and crank arm which enters the transmission on the left side at about the same height as the level fill plug. The linkage is not flexible at all like the M&W appears to be in the photos I've seen here on the forum. If you need more info just send an email and I can look at the tractor the next time I am up at the carriage house and provide more detail. Hope this helps. Hal
