Have been having a hard time finding distributor parts for my 354 IH. the tractor is British built and has Lucas (Prince of Darkness) starter and generator installed. We at first thought that the distributor was also Lucas, It turns out it is Delco-Remy (Made in GB). Dealer was little help and sent me home 70 miles with Lucas cap, rotor, points, and condenser, no cigar!! Checked the normal internet searchs for delco parts and found that the IH cap is NLA, got to checking ferguson parts and found the numbers are the same for the clip held cap, 22 miles later at the local AGCO dealer and I checked the parts against a TO-20 out back, Its a match!! He sold me a TISCO tune up kit and all works except the points are different, had to put the old ones back in temporarily. Now for the question: Does anyone know of a resource for getting the right points for this tractor? The parts books at NAPA also show the Ferguson parts but also show the IH as NLA. What gives? Do they not cross ref the parts to all aplications anymore? Still need the points. Thanks for any input.

Jimmy,
Got the new points and condensor from Harold Tucker Auto Parts in Mtn Home AR. They are a bumper to bumper dealer, they could not find the points application in the book, used the Borg numbers provided in the post and crossed them to Standard ignition and got them ordered. Thanks for all the help to all.

Borg Warner list's points for a 354 tractor. The number for the points is A556 and you can call 1-800-566-8334 for a distributor near you. Is the number 144 on the distributor? That's listed in my parts book. Hal
The condenser # is G649

You cant always trust parts books as over the years new copies are made and things get mixed up just like starters for a B is not the same as one for a C they will interchange but the linkages are different. Generators are also different sometimes will interchange but have different mountings for reg and cutouts and the amperage out-puts are different.

There may be slight differences between the Ferg and IH caps, and not identical....they wouldnt issue the same number for 2 different caps.
