Anyone have a good wire diagram for a 1959 460 gasser? Mine has a 2 wire 12v alternator. Thanks

Galen - Punch below for a diagram for a 460 gasser. I believe the 560 is wired the same.

Note however your tractor came with a generator from the factory (IHC didn't go to alternators until '63 or so...) Thus the wiring between the alternator and the rest of the system will be slightly different.

Yup - I got most of it figuerd out, but it's the alernator part I'm working on. What was the first tractor to use an alternator setup? might could use the diagram from it.

The first IHC alternators were externally-regulated units supplied by Delco. Most likely however yours was coverted using a later style internally-regulated Delco.

If that's what you've got post back and I'll walk you through the couple of minor changes to the OEM diagram you'll need to make...

In case your wiring is not color coded:

Alternator BAT terminal connects to the ammeter. This wire should be at least AWG #10.

Alternator #1 terminal connects to the switched (coil) side of the ignition switch. There must be either a diode or a small lamp (#194 bulb or equivalent) in the line between the ign switch and the #1 terminal.

Alternator #2 aux terminal is jumpered directly to the alt BAT terminal.

red wire goes to battery term. of alt. brown wire goes to keyed power, must use diode in line if tractor has gas engine to prevent alt. from feeding ign system with key off. local caseih dealer can supply new connector in case wires are faded and also a diode (small end of diode is hooked to alt.
