Hard steering Super M

I have just got a Super M. It has the tie rods on the engine side of the axle and not out front like the old wide front M's. I'm assuming it is a shwartz. Anyway it is harder to steer than some of the other farmall widefronts I have driven. Can anyone tell me what might cause this? Thanks for the help.

Get both front wheels of the ground turn the steering wheel. Does it steer any easier? While the wheels are of the ground grease all grease zerks and make sure none are missing. See if it steers any easier and let us know the results. Armand

Not to sound like a smart -ss "but" did you check the air presure in the front tires ?

I have come accross this several times and all it was, was low air presure.

oliver77: Do as suggested- jack up the front end so both wheels are off the ground. If this doesn't ease the steering loosen the studs on top of the spindles. (holds the steering arm? on.) Do one side at a time. On my M I found that the square stock key was too long and when the above mentioned stud was tightened, it forced the key down the keyway and caused it to bind against the side of the tube. My memory is a little hazy about specifics, but anyway you may find the problem in that area. Good luck Bert

I was going to jack it up today. I'm glad you pointed me towards the spindle and the keys in them. I had already greased everything. I'll check and let you know. Thanks.

I jacked it up and it doesn't steer much easier. I going to look at the gear on top of the wishbone tomorrow when I have more time and see if the nut on top is too tight putting too much load on the bottome bearing.
