I believe the 660,770 and 780 all used the c-146 engine. The drive line is 140 trans and final drives.I use my 780 to spray tobacco, original engine was shot and installed a c 153 combine engine.I have the stainless tank, but no power steering, when tank is full steers tough. Other than that, I like mine fine.

Never heard of a 660 Hi-Clear. 660s are not Farmalls. They are either industrial, riceland (maybe), or wheatland tractors sold under the IH label. 660s have planetary hubs. Never seen a dropbox for that setup in any parts book. Two dropboxes are necessary to lift Hi-Clears

The 660 diesel has 282 cubes amd is run at 2400 rpm. It develops 80 hp.

The IH 660 is loosely similar to a 560 Farmall. The Farmall could have been built as a high clear. The 560 motors only run at 1800 rpm. The radiators are three inches shorter. Most all 560 Farmalls had a fast hitch. Fenders, if equipped, are clamshell style vs full coverage on 660s.

Wardner,

The 660 is a International High Clear sprayer. It is for use in row crops such as cotton, corn, soybeans, etc. It is not based on a tractor but is a purpose built machine. I forget what engine it had but it is a IHC four cylinder engine.

Thanks for the correction Harold. As you can see I don't know much about sprayers. Seems strange that IH would use the same model number for two different products. Of course, Deere did the same with the 830 and similiar products.
