What is involved in fixing a bad clutch control yoke?

Does it require splitting the tractor?

Would part of this job also include a new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing?

The only difficult part in changing clutch yoke is dropping lift pump and getting grease and clutch dust off your hands and arms. Have one out of early Super M now took longer to clean hands than to remove fork.

Think the clutch fork and throwout beaaring on ebay is for the TA clutch not the main one wo wouldn't fit the M.

That clutch yoke on Ebay is not like the one in my M and not like the one in my M parts book. The parts book calls it a Fork. How long have you had your M? Has the clutch ever worked?? The fork is keyed to the cross shaft with two heavy washers that go on the bolts that clamp the fork to the cross shaft. If someone did not put those washers in, the fork is going to slip on the shaft. If that is the problem, you can fix it without taking the clutch out of the tractor.

One's on eBay now. Don't know if it'll fit an M or not, but looks same as I remember mine on 1950 M.

Not necessary to split the tractor to work on the M clutch. However, it's a dirty, sweaty, messy job down under that tractor. You have to take out the lift all. You likely can have your clutch rebuilt and save the cost of new stuff. Probably a clutch shop near you that can do the job. THat's what I did with my MD. The shop refaced the clutch disk, dressed up the pressure plate and put in new springs and supplied a new throw out bearing. While you are at it you will want to check the pilot bearing too. I don't think it's possible to get the flywheel out though without splitting the tractor. Search the archives, I've given instructions before on how to get the M clutch out without splitting.
