Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on adjusting a torque and clutch on a 656. Right now with the torque in the forward (direct) position the clutch seems to have two speeds as you let it out. It engages as it comes off the floor and as it comes off further it seems to jump forward as if in a faster gear.It is almost as if the two speeds of the torque are being activated in the clutch. The clutch is brand new as is the pressure plate and flywheel surface.I adjusted the clutch according to the book when I installed it after having overhauled the entire engine.

That is what we use to call double clutch and sould not do that. (1) pull TA lever back to TA then see that you have about 1-1/2" free travel of foot peddle, then with foot peddle on to deck put TA lever forward pin in linkage of TA should be just loose, now hold foot peddle down at the 1-1/2 or free travel pull TA back til you take up free travel of TA clutch and the finger at the main clutch should contact link of main clutch. If need more help e mail me (aschrunk@msn.com)

that's kind of how it's supposed to work. when the foot clutch is depressed it needs to release the tourque clutch so the shifter dosen't bind. sounds like yours is adjusted just a little tight.
