proper gas level in carb?

Hi,

I can't find where the gas level should be on a carburetor. Can someone tell me? I have tried your suggestions and they were helpful.

Hendrik, talked about the Valve Seat and the Valve so I gave it a close peak in the sunlight. Yep! something doesn't mate up. The Valve Seat had a ruff looking hole, and the Valve looks like it is to large to fit into the Seat and looks like it is too flat on the end, instead of coming to a smaller point.

The gas level is approximately 2/3rd full. Any comments much welcome, Thanks!

Usually, if you start the gas flow through the float valve with the bowl off and adjust the float tab so it shuts off the fuel with light pressure up on the float when the float is parallel with the carburetor base, everything will work pretty well.

Hi Bob,

Yes,I did try that method and it looks like the gas would come half way. I get it all together and use the other method with the clear hose and it looks like it goes 2/3rd full.

I went through cleaning and setting up two carburetors. (1) a Carter UT which I left on the bench and (1) Zenith which I thought was may be the better of the two, and assembled it on the tractor. If this doesn't work they will come apart again for a Seat and Valve change. Thanks!

Bob
