Farmall h problems

i have a farmall h that keeps burning the points up. it is a brand new wireing harness. new coil, new resistor, new regulator, great distributor. I am running an 8 volt batt on a 6 volt sys. if anyone knows,... let me know.
Thanks

Causes of premature point burn up may be:

1) Excess current cuz the ballast is undersized in cases with a 6 volt coil on a 12 volt tractor

2) Undersized or not connected or bad condensor

3) Condensor isnt well grounded

4) Points incorrectly gapped

NOTE you mentioned a resistor .......Normally a 6 volt tractor with a 6 volt coil WOULDNT HAVE ANY EXTERNAL BALALST RESISTOR

An 8 volt battery on a 6 volt system and 6 volt unballasted coil will cause minor premature points burn up cuz the points are switching a lil more current buttttttttttt If its a 6 volt coil and the condensor is good and wired in I wouldnt expect them to burn up all that much sooner. To be exact a smaller sized ballast would be used when running an 8 volt battery and a 6 volt coil...

Id check the condensor and its wiring n connection n ground,,,,,,,,look into that resistor situation as if its a 6 volt coil you dont need a regular sized ballast but a smaller ohms unit.......
