My working '47 Super-A helps me manage my small horse farm (5 years running) but I don't know much more than what it takes to maintain it (have a snow-plow & belly mower). My Super-A has "Touch Control" hydraulics.I want to add a front end loader and KH (seller)suggests that if a loader fit a Super-C it should fit a Super-A. Is there a place where I can view a working unit (picture or drawing to help me understand how it works and whether it look like it fits my '47 Super-A and the "touch Control system). The freight will probably cost more than the unit, so I need to make sure I'm buying somthing that will work. I'm also interested in a 3-point hitch (adapter??) that might work with modern implements - like a cone spreader or auger. It seems I have many of the hydraulic arms/levers around the tractor for implements, just don't know which they go to. Thanks in advance for helping a dedicated but naive Farmall user. J.R.

Here's some food for thought..I have a Super C with a loader (that i bought after i got the tractor) and have never been able to get it to work properly..All the lifting is done by one side..Have been to several dealers for help and nothing works..Make sure you get the proper manifold/hyd hookup needed..Mine is a touch control system also, sounds like a bigger tractor would make more sense and a nice Christmas present. Good Luck and Merry Christmas

My advise to you is dont put a loader on or go to the expence of the three point hitch. Just stand back and look at the little, light front end on that tractor. The equipment industry didn't put that much engineering items such as loaders for Farmall Super A. One thing they knew for sure, it was going to sell parts. For the money you will have to spend you could buy a good 30 to 40 hp tractor with loader and three point hitch on it. There is something else you should think about; everyone who ever purchased a loader for their tractor, wanted a second tractor to pull the trailer, manure spreader, etc they were loading. I remember my father in 1952 buying a new Farmall H with loader. Three days he loaded the spreader then tried to hook up to spreader. You could have taught a new clergyman in training all the words necessary, mind you, not in right order. The spreader would settle, jack broke, etc. On the fourth he went and rented a neighbours tractor to pull spreader. Your Super A will pull a 100 bu. spreader just fine.

a loader for a C will no way fit an A as the frame of a C is clear different than an A go look at one and you will see is your pump good does the rockshafts move back and forth one can be built for around 1400 would you need a quick-tach type or would you be leaving it on do you need how large of a bucket and would you also need a front blade

J.R.-Just a thought, if you are going to put 2 0r $3000 or more into loader and three point for the A You might conider a second tractor with loader and three point for not much more money. An IH 300 or something in that size and price range. Some of the other guys could tell you better than me if the A was going to be gutzy enough to handle loader and manure? With a smaller type loader tractor it helps, if you are handling manure with straw and hay in it, to have manure tines on the loader bucket. Good Luck

There were a bunch of posts recently on how to install remote hydraulics on a Farmall C. The setup is the same on a Super A, and the discussions about the C apply. You can buy a block to mount in the touch control manifold that allows you to add the reomote valve(s) you will need to work a loader. Saginaw County Tractor can supply the block and remote valve.
