Does the differential use 90w Gear Oil?
How much does it take?

The cubs and A's tend to have noisey transmissions. I use 90-140W with good (quieter) luck.

It depends some on what year it is. Since we don't know, the best thing to do is to try and figure out what's in there now. Whatever it is, use the same thing. Otherwise, use 90 weight. Chuck

Daren,
My operators manual states the following:
Tractors operating in temperatures below +40 degrees F., IH Hytran fluid or SAE-80 gear lubricant. Tractors operating consistently above +40 degrees F., IH Hytran fluid or SAE-90 gear lubricant.
Capacities: Transmission - 3-1/2 pt.
Rear Axle Housing - 1-3/4 pt.
Belt Pulley Housing - 1/3 pt.

Those are the descriptions in the manual.
The transmission filler plug is on top next to the battery box. The level plug is on the side opposite the seat, under the platform and forward of the rear axle. The drain plug is on the same side as the seat, on the front of the lowest part of the transmission.
The belt pulley plugs are fairly obvious, filler on top, level on the rear and drain on the bottom.
The rear axle filler and level plugs are the same, the pans must be removed to drain the old oil.

Hope this is helpful,
Phil

You can use 90 wt gear lube or IH Hy-Tran Fluid. The transmission case holds 3 1/2 pints, the final drive housings take 1 3/4 pints each.
