loader lifting capacity

Hi folks, I have a loader question. I'm wondering what the lifting capacity ( in pounds ) is for a case ih 2255 loader on a 585 or 685? I've done some hunting online and called the local dealer with no luck. Any info would be appreciated.

I don't know the particulars of the loader/tractor combination, but I'm sure it will lift more than what would be considered safe. A large round hay bale weighing around 1,500 pounds should not be a problem, but may be dangerous if you lift it too high or travel too fast.

Yeah i agree with Rusty, it use to say it on their Literature, the lifting capacity, my neighbor use to have a loader like that on a 784, they would come over and help feed the tub grinder, just don't carry the load high, and turn fast. I looked it up in a old Buyers Guide it is 1700 lbs to a height of 9 feet!

I have a 584IH with a loader on it and it lifts my 6X6 hay bales with no problems. I make bales in the 1500 plus pound range.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I want to use a set of forks on it, I would imagine it will decrease the capacity since you would keep the forks flat instead of rolling the bucket back.

If your talking about fork lift forks that mount to the edge of the bucket yes that puts the load out away from the unit so yes the lift will be a little less but still more then enough to lay the tractor over if your not careful how you use them. I've been wanting to mount asset of forks on my IH584 but just haven't gotten around to it yet

My brother has a CIH 3230 with 2250 with Quick Attach bucket. The 3230 is two generations newer than 584 but basically the same
tractor. When he first bought the 3230 the rear tires were not loaded with calcium and after we installed the 2250 loader, the
loader would lift enough to lift the rear tires off the ground. He quickly had the rear tires filled with calcium/water.
The 3230 has the 17 GPM hydraulic pump installed and is much faster operating the loader than the CIH 495 that the loader was
previously on.
The 2250/2255 is a very good loader for the 74/84/95 series tractors.
I believe the only difference between 2250 and 2255 is that 2255 has a different boom to accommodate the larger front wheels on
4WD tractors.

See link as someone posted the specs for 2250 on another site.

Hope this helps

2250 loader specs

They will handle more then what the ft. axle will handle If the pressure and flow are set over factory spec. but i would say they will handle 3500 lbs easy enough IF the rear of the tractor is weighted properly , like LOADED tires and a weight box . I have seen 2250 loaded handle big squares easily . I sold and 826 to a big hay farmer south of me with a 2250 loader and it plays with 4x4x8 But we installed the highest pressure relief and it has loaded 18.4x38's with five sets of do nuts on the wheels plus a weight box hanging off the three point . I have seen 2250 loaders at sales with boom poles added handling wing disks with ease 6 and 8 row corn heads , my own 2000 loader would handle a 15 foot Brillion cultimulcher or a 6 row corn head 24 foot wing disk , load a 68 Chevy Impala onto a semi flat bed .
